  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- The world needs to read this book : I am a middle aged white woman who is very aware the color of my skin gives me privilege, respect and safety that people of color never get. This book is earth shattering in its ability to touch your soul. Every man, woman and child need to read this book. ASAP ( Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Amjedi -- Wow : What an excellent story, one of the best books I’ve read this year. The authors did such a great job telling the story from different perspectives: the Black mother who’s innocent teenage son is gunned down by a White police officer, the white officer’s wife who is so sorry it happened but loves and supports her husband, and the officer’s wife’s best friend, who is a Black reporter covering the story. The book raises a lot of questions: can you be best friends with someone outside your race? Can a white person really get and understand what Black people go through on a daily basis? Dealing with micro aggressions, stupid assumptions. Should Black people give Whites the opportunity to really get to know us, to take a chance on having authentic relationships even though both sides will make mistakes? Great book! • 3.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- Nothing Like Them : I could write a pretty long dissertation about this book, yet I'll try to keep it short and sweet. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from vabeachygal -- Really made me think : Ive never considered myself racist. I'm a Caucasian woman in her sixties. My feelings about racially motivated anything; a job gotten or denied, a shooting, has always swung back and forth, and i still feel that often race is called out just to stir the pot. But i never thought about how i would see things if i were black. This book has given me alot to think about. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2021 )
  • from Angelia Vernon Menchan -- VINE VOICE : Too timely ( 5.0 out of 5 stars )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Hazel in Philly -- Wow! What a GREAT Read : This Book is written with compassion, empathy, love, understanding, and the opposite of all these things. It'll surely pull out your own truths and beliefs even if you don't want it to. When a kid is killed, it affects us all in one way or another but a mother......a mother losses her insides, her heart, her child. I lost my breath on more than one section of this book for both sides. The letter from Kevin was it for me. Him being willing to tell the truth about what really happened was the "IT" for me. It would speak volumes if more cops take responsibility for a miscall that ends in the death of another. Especially a child. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Amazon Customer -- An excellent read : I really enjoyed this book. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 14, 2022 )
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars from Amiraad -- Vaguely interesting : Honest novel about the various outcomes that police brutality has on society. The novel was long winded with the court case and didn't really develop for me. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 14, 2022 )
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars from tina hughes -- Insufficient depth for such an important topic : I wanted to be able to rave about this book , for the depth and raw emotion to be depicted through words, sadly this didn't hit the mark for me. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 28, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from wendymcdonell -- Must read to be better : Some books entertain. Some teach. Some transform your thinking completely and some just make the world a better place because we understand each other. This book does it all. Pain and pleasure and new growth ( Reviewed in Canada on January 21, 2022 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from goossens r.a.e. -- Spannend en realistisch : Voor een "Witte" middenklasse Europeaan is het moeilijk te begrijpen hoe in grote delen van de VS het racisme al of nert onderhuids nog een grote rol speelt. ( Reviewed in the Netherlands on October 31, 2021 )
